I have to admit, when you see me nowadays, you'd barely see a trace of makeup. It's the pandemic effect. but there are days I get to doll myself up, special events, few occasions here and there. And so I got to sort my makeup collection and saw this beautiful liquid lipstick that my sister gifted me.
This is the MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer in the shade Dash. This is a shade I used to really love. Until now, I still love my berry colors. I find that it really brightens the entire look. Dash is actually not so bright, it's a muted almost mauvey berry shade which I think makes it very flattering for Filipina skin.
Packaging looks nice too. It comes in a hard plastic packaging that looks like frosted glass. It comes with a doe foot applicator for ease of use.
My sister actually gifted me this lippy because it claims that it is long lasting, and my sister knows that I'm all about long wearing makeup. Kiss proof is a big plus because I hate it when lipsticks transfer to my kids' skin.
First thing I noticed is the pigmentation. One swipe and it's really pigmented and buildable. It dries matte and indeed has a velvety finish. It's still comfortable to wear even though it's matte, something I totally hate in matte lippies. As for the longevity of wear, it is indeed kiss proof and transfer proof once it dries. However, once you eat (especially oily food), it starts to settle on the lines of the lips. The inner part usually gets removed first, so retouching is still necessary if you will eat. Drinking doesn't remove the lippy completely, though it tends to flake off a bit but not to the extent that you would need to retouch right away.
I do recommend this lipstick if you are looking for a long wearing lip product that will not transfer. Hello mask season! Just make sure to wait till its dry first before wearing your mask. ;)
Any of you also hunting for mask friendly lipsticks? I hear you! I also continuously hunt my own stash and try out which ones work and don't smudge and get removed when wearing masks. I like having lip color on even wearing a mask because when I eat or drink and do take off my mask, I feel like I look so unpolished and sickly, when I don't have any lip color. Hehe! Maarte eh.
Liquid lipsticks are usually long wearing so I checked out my collection of liquid lipsticks and found Maybelline Color Stay Matte Ink. This particular shade is Driver.
It comes with a doe foot applicator for precise application.
The shade that I have is in Driver, it's a nude shade that I thought would look well for my skin tone.
As the name suggests, this is totally matte. And it truly is. There's some tugging here and there so I highly suggest to moisturize the lips well. Also, it can emphasize the lines of the lips so exfoliate the lips to make it smoother looking.
As for transferring to the masks, this is transfer proof once it dries. It takes less than a minute to dry. I am not afraid of lipstick smearing under my mask because I know that once it's set, it really is set. When drinking, it also doesn't get removed, minimal retouching may be helpful. I noticed that when eating, some parts get removed, but again not that much, so minimal retouching is okay.
As for the color, I would have wanted it to be a tad darker. I find that when I don't have that much makeup, I kinda look washed out; especially now that I've gotten a little lighter. Blame it on the pandemic and staying home. Hehe!
How about you? Any favorite lipsticks that is safe for mask wearers? :)
Now that we are still in the middle of quarantine, I’m sure a lot of you also miss putting on makeup. Only times I get to actually look more decent (hehe) is when I have online meetings. It’s my time to doll up! So today, I want to talk about a product that I fell in love with instantly. It’s In Her Element Butterlips Conditioning Color which I received before the pandemic started.
P345/each and P875/set
This formula is a balm and lipstick hybrid, delivering a juicy wash of moisturizing color on the lips! It’s designed to be comfortable and low-maintenance during the day, so that you don’t need to take too much precious time retouching.
I gotta say, their claim is legit! This is really very comfortable on the lips and is moisturizing that your dry chapped lips will definitely thank you. I also like that the colors are buildable and it’s very pigmented too.
Mayumi, Tala, Hanan
They launched three gorgeous wearable shades that I think every Filipinas must have. You can create so many looks with these three colors.
Mayumi: a muted clay shade with a light brown undertone that flatters all skin types Tala: a pinkish plum that creates a blooming, fresh look Hanan: a fun salmon pink that brightens skin instantly
Here is Mayumi on me. It’s a MLBB shade and it the perfect everyday shade. I can imagine wearing this for daytime just like how I did it in the photo, or wear a smokey eye and pair it with Mayumi.
Tala is a staple for me. If there’s one color I choose for my lips over and over again, it’s a nice plum shade. I don’t know why, but I just feel like it gives such a nice pop without needing to wear red lipstick. I paired it with dark brown eyeliner and some flirty lashes and it immediately transforms as a sexy shade, don’t you think?
Then we have Hanan that is such a warm and sunny color for me. I don’t have a lot of coral shades but since Butterlips Conditioning Color is buildable, you can put a tiny amount and dab it with your finger and have a nice stained lip, or build it up to this gorgeous almost tomato shade lip.
As I said, all of these three shades are love. 🙂 I found myself reaching for these lippies whenever I need to put on makeup for my meetings. One because they’re hydrating and sometimes Zoom meetings tend to last long so I need something comfortable and non drying. Two the color is really nice. It suits any look! I’ve used it with bare face even, and it still made me look more alive and fresh. Hehe!
Lastly, I’m sure you know how much I love long wearing lippies. Well, I’m happy to let you know that this stains the lips. Yes!!! Of course staining is different from having the same color intensity. But I think it’s still okay, minimal retouching is always a big plus! Which of these colors do you fancy? Let me know because I really can’t choose a favorite. 🙂
In this age of matte lippies, we forget that there’s also an appeal of glossy and shiny lip. Back in the day, I was never a fan of matte lipsticks, actually even until now- for normal days, I would skip the mattes just because they tend to dry out my lips rather dramatically. In comes Avon with their Mark Lip Prism lipstick collection that gives you 4,000 prismatic pearls that shine with every move, creating a show-stopping look that lasts for hours.
What’s quite unique about this line is the use of Pearl Elixir technology to capture light as you move, for lips that shine with a multi-reflective finish.
Let’s first talk about the packaging:
It comes in a very sparkly black/purpler tube. The shimmers remind me of the galaxy. It looks quite elegant if you ask me. There’s also the Avon logo and the shade is at the bottom.
Once opened, you’ll see that the lipstick itself is embossed with “Mark”.
They come in a variety of colors so there’s definitely something that would suit every mood and every occasion.

Based on the photos above, you could really tell that I’m enjoying that glossy reflective finish thanks to Avon’s exclusive Pearl Elixir technology. It really does make the lips stand out right? And for a person like me who don’t wear much makeup, you’d probably like it because it gives such focus on the lips. Plus points for those who find that their lips are best asset! 🙂
This lipstick line isn’t as opaque as other lipsticks I have tried. It takes about 2-3 swipes to get a decent pigment. It’s very easy to apply though and glides very smoothly. And it’s very buildable too so you could really be as bold as you want.
The product is also moisturizing and it felt comforable on my lips even if I retouch it again and again. Now that’s another con, this isn’t a long wearing lipstick. If you drink or eat, it will definitely transfer and will not stay on. Reapplication is a must. The glitters also tend to transfer and if you wipe your lips, some will actually stay put on the lips which I found to be annoying when I don’t have any color anymore. If you don’t eat or drink however, it can stay on 4 hours no problem.
Under light (you can see the pearl like shimmers better): P11 Nude Eclipse, P13 Interstellar Love, P02 Celestial Crush, P05 Blast Off, P14 Hyer Fusion, P03 Futuristic Dreams, P06 Aura On, P07 Energy Flash, P08 Reflective Scandal
Overall this is a good lipstick collection. I love that the colors are very wearable and I definitely could see myself using it any time of day. It’s also pretty affordable at P299.00 a tube. I would recommend this to people who prefer to change up their lip colors in a day. Say a different shade in the morning for the office, another for drinks with friends and perhaps another shade for a hot date. This will definitely leave a lasting impression to people you meet. And you will definitely shine bright like a diamond!
